WHAT SHOULD I DO?

I found a large plastic "Rolodex-like thingy" (I'm great with words, aren't I?) at my LSS, and had to pick it up and make..something out of it! Of course, when I got it home, I had no clue as to how I wanted to use it, but I did 'embellish' and now I'm looking for ideas on what to do with it!

SO, I ask you, my friends: WHAT WOULD YOU DO WITH THIS THING?

I can easily peel off the alphas on the front, so it does't have to have a "friends" theme...

PLEASE HELP!

Julia's First Snowman

I have the sweetest little niece in the whole wide world. And actually, she's from all the way across the whole wide world: Russia! My sister-in-law adopted her when she was only 9 months old, and this winter, at 5, up until last week, she had never seen a single snowflake.

So, when we got buried under two feet of snow last Friday, Julia went outside with her mom and made her very first snowman! She was soooo excited, so they took a photo of it and sent it to me. Why? Because they knew I'd make something like this:

See, ever since Julia came "home" to the US, I've been keeping up with her daily life through the many photos my sister-n-law sends me, and I've made her at least 50 layouts in the past few years! SHe'll lvoe it whne her mom logs on here tomorrow, I'm sure.

I wonder what they ahve planner for New Years? Better start pulling out some festive embellies!

An African Pastor's Delaration

Our Pastor quoted this "declaration" this morning. It was written by a young martyred pastor from Zimbabwe, name unknown, shortly before his death in the late 1920'. Several years later, it was found by a missionary, and spread throughout the world. Whether or not you've never read this before, I can promise you'll want to hear it again and again! I know I do! Try to read this aloud, pretend you are your favorite motivational speaker, and say it like you mean it!

"I'm a part of the fellowship of the unashamed. The die has been cast. I have stepped over the line. The decision has been made. I'm a disciple of His and I won't look back, let up, slow down, back away, or be still.
My past is redeemed. My present makes sense. My future is secure. I'm done and finished with low living, sight walking, small planning, smooth knees, colorless dreams, tamed visions, mundane talking, cheap living, and dwarfed goals.
I no longer need preeminence, prosperity, position, promotions, plaudits, or popularity. I don't have to be right, or first, or tops, or recognized, or praised, or rewarded. I live by faith, lean on His presence, walk by patience, lift by prayer, and labor by Holy Spirit power.
My face is set. My gait is fast. My goal is heaven. My road may be narrow, my way rough, my companions few, but my guide is reliable and my mission is clear.
I will not be bought, compromised, detoured, lured away, turned back, deluded or delayed.

Every day can be Christmas!

I can't believe it. Its 1:21 AM on December 26th. and Christmas has come and gone. It was a white Christmas, and even though it's over, I won't be blue. See, I think every day can be Christmas! How about you?

If Christmas is all about getting your favorite new little gadget, or going to lots of parties, decorating a tree, and baking cookies, then I can see why we'd be sad to see it end. After all, that is a lot of fun!

But, if we remember that on this day, in the City of David, a child was born! He was to be called the Wonderful Counselor, the Prince of Peace, the Mighty God. Immanuel: God with us! To Him was given all authority over heaven and earth, and His Kingdom would never end!

When the clock struck midnight on the actual day of His birth, Jesus didn't go away. As a matter of fact, He still lives today! So, at the end of the day, if the meaning of Christmas is the birth of our Savior, who came to take away the sins of the world, then all I can do each day is REJOICE!

If you had a "Blue Christmas," please remember this: God so loved the word, that He sent His only begotten Son, so that whosoever believed in Him would not perish, but have everlasting life! (John 3:16).

And that, my friends, is a reason to rejoice on any and every day of the year.

Simply Grateful

As we enter into Thanksgiving Weekend 2009 (can it really be already??!!) I rememebr our old family tradition of going 'round the table, asking what everyone is thankful for. My brothers and sister dreaded tat part of the evening, but I LOVE to tell about what I'm grateful for, soof coursew, I had to make a mini-album for this:

Listing all 10 would be cumbersome writing AND reading (!) so I'll share my TOP 5!

1. FIRST ALWAYS: I am grateful to God, all that His hands have done Thank you Jesus!

2, Next, I am so grateful for my dear husband and sweet son, who give me encouragements and love every single day.

3. I am soo, soooo grateful that we have enough money to keep a house over our heads, food on the table and clothing on our bodies.

4. I will always be grateful for my parents, brothers and sister, and that we all can still gather together on Thanksgiving Day every year.

5. I have the GREATEST FRIENDS ON EARTH! Thanks to each and every one of you who has supported, listened, been there, had faith in me...well, you know!!!

HOPE YOU ALL HAVE AN AWESOMELY BLESSED THANKSGIVING!

WIN $50 BLOG CANDY : Tri-fold Cami Card CONTEST!

A great friend of mine, Char~, from Jean's Art Dolls DT, had heard of a card similar to this from Splitcoast Stampers, I BELIEVE... I played around with the template design, and here's my take on it!

Here's how you make this:

1. Cut a sheet of relatively heavy patterned paper to 8" x 8-1/2"
2. Trace the outline of a plate on the very top, like an arch, to achieve a rounded top to the almost sqaure piece of paper.

3. Cut along the arch to get a rounded top.

4. On each side, measure 2" in from the bottom, and two inches in from each side, and draw line as illustrated below, then cut out both of the "squares' you just drew::

5. Fold bottom flap up. Then, fold the left panel over to center, and fold the right panel slightly over the left:

The rest is easy! But no photos, because I'm not going to give you ANY NEW IDEAS
6. Cut out a 5" tag shape out of coordinating patterned paper, AND a 4 or 4-1/2 inch tag out of solid, light-colored cardstock (so you can write on it.) or, as I did on this one, vice-versa!
7.. Mat the smaller tag onto the larger one.
8. Time to dress up your cami! I almost always make some sort of a "belt,' either out of ribbon, fiber, cardstock or pp. On some I'll follow the curved lines iof the "V-neck" and decorate with bling, eyelets threaded with fiber-- all things are possible!

Here's an accordian display for my photos of last year's Spring flowers in bloom! Thought I'd share...

Obviously, its made from an old pair of jeans, which is adhered with a spray-adhesive to cardboard, and has elasticized string holding the sides togehter, and threaded through buttons on the front and back. Embellish with tons of PRIMAS, from "itty bittys" to the largest of the silks, and a strip of felt fusion, finished off with some cute clips...Fun fun fun!!!!

LONG TIME, NO BLOGGING!

HI FRIENDS!
I'M IN SHOCK!
I just looked at the date of my last post, and saw that it nearly a month since I posted here. I've been so busy! Now that I'm back on my feet and getting around, there's no stopping me now!

Still, I DO spend a lot of time with 'scrappy site' commitments~~ still working hard at Jean's Art Dolls, where we had a huge overhaul of our DT during the summer/early fall, and am a Guest Designer this month at Scrapperie ( http://www.scrapperie.com ) who has the BEST KIT CLUB ON EARTH!!! I get the monthly Kits anyway, but usually not for free, and never before as a designer, so I am psyched!
Last but not leart, as it says below, my dear friend DeVonne and I started a site called ChristianCrafters ( http://ccrafters.informe.com/forum ) so if you are either one, or both of the things in the title, please come and check us out!

So, I think I'm sounding like "Cindy" again!!! Woooohoooooooooooo!!!!

WOW! God has jsut blessed my SOCKS off this month! A few months ago, He "told" me to start a Blog, telling of the things He has done in my life, so I did! ( http://www.iwillsingofhislove.blogspot.com )
THEN, He "told" me to start a Group at Paper Craft Planet, to call it ChristianCrafters, and within a week, we had nearly 20 members!
Well, at PCP, we were very limited in that we couldn't set up our own Gallery AND albums for Challenges, etc...and we were, of course, respectfully adhering to the rules set up for Group (for everyone's protection) yet STILL we were limited!
SO, if you know me, I wasn't just going to let this slide, so, my dear friend and extremely talented lady, DeVonne M. and I, started a BRAND NEW FORUM! We have a full Gallery, with separate Member Galleries, weekly Challenges (REALLY FUN!) Monthly Swaps, plus I wirte a Daily Inspiration every day, and DeVonne is going to start a Wednesday morning Bible study! The best of ALL WORLDS!

New Group at Paper Craft Planet!

Are you a Member of PCP? Any paper-crafter will LOVE it there! If you're not familiar, its like "Facebook" for scrapbookers, stampers, and other crafters. They have sponsors/advertisers with little stores there, and over 200 specialty groups you can check out, that cater to a variety of interests.
Today, I put in a request to the Founder, Susanna Boyd, to start a new Group there! It is a group that will focus on usng our God-given gifts to glorify Him! WELCOME HOME, ME!!!!!

HI FRIENDS!
What a summer! Or NOT! If you haven't seen me, its because I've been in the hospital, pretty much since July 14th, with the exception of about a week in August, due to a car accident, then many subsequent infections, etc. I haven't scrapped in ALL THAT TIME, but today, with ALL CASTS REMOVED, I AM READY TO ROLL!!!!!

Please forgive me if I haven't been in touch. Unless I have your phone # stored in my cell phone AND you live in the US, I really couldn't call, plus most of the time I was too sick to even talk, and if you know ME, that's pretty INCREDIBLE--! ME? NOT TALKING?!?! Even in cyber-space I talk alot! LOL!

TALENTED DESIGNERS WANTED!!!

Hi Friends,
I am loooking for a BUNCH of new Designers and Apprentices to join our ever-growing and extremely fun Design Team at Jean's Art Dolls!

Requirements:
1. Love and appreciate art, both your own and that of others.
2. Be able to visit the site to participate in Challenges, to post in the Gallery, and to check the Design Team Office goings-on at least 3-4 times per week.
(No minimum posting requirement!)
3. Share your art, be it paper-crafting, jewelry-making, or even poetry and photography, in our Gallery and/or Forum on a weekly basis.
4. Committ to a 3-month term, which is then convertible to an UNLIMITED TERM, that is, stay as long as we're all happy, or kindly give one week's notice of your decision not to continue. Or just stay the 3 months--up to you!
5. We accept artist of all levels of proficiency or talent. If you have never been on a Design Team before, please apply anyway! We have an Apprenticeship Program for those who are just beginning in our crazy cyber art world, and wish to be part of a DT, but would like some guidance and instruction, or feel that a full DT position just isn't for you ...YET!

Just a note...

Hello to my dear friends at Jean's Art Dolls, Crafts 4 Eternity, Scrapperie, and other great people I've met through the fabulous paper-crafting hobby we share. Every card, kind word, phone call, e-mail, Blog Comment, etc. are SO greatly appreciated.

Through the prayers of many, I am making a miraculously speedy recovery from my near-fatal car accident. (I can't even stand to think about what could have been, so I try not to...)

Since God has been so amazingly wonderful to me, the very least I can do os share His wonder in my life with the world. HENCE, a relatively NEW BLOG, dedicated to Him. This is not about "religion," or trying to convert anyone to my Christian faith, but only to tell of how God is enriching my life, and that of my family, in wonderous ways! It is a true blessing to me to be able to share this, whether for my own eyes only, or for those who have started to follow my story.

Jean's Art Dolls is looking for a bunch of new designers (at least 6 or maybe more!,) of any and all creative levels and interests, to join our unique and awesome Design Team!!!!
We ask that you make a minimum 3 MONTH committment, and then if you'd like to continue on, you are welcome to do so for as long as you like!
There is a very do-able minimum posting requirement (about 10-15 posts per week--EASY!), and we ask you to post your new creations in our Gallery about twice a week.

Trouble in Paradise...

Hi friends!
I know that people "Blog" for all different reasons, and lots of us have more than one blog: maybe one for posting our part, and another for mopre personal stuff. I'm a 'single-blog' kinda girl, and I usually just use this to post about what's going on in "Cindy's Art World," but today is a little different...
Some of you may know that I'ev had multiple medical problems over the past year, and even had surgery as recently as April 1st to correct one of the problems. Sad to say, that whiule that was successful, ANOTHER problesm has arisen, reuqring yet another surgery!
I've been having lots of pain in my left knee, and like most of you, I hate going to the doctor, especially since lately I get bad news! But, I did eventually, go, and, true to what I feared, I DID get bad news: MORE SURGERY! It semes I ahve THREE tears in my "meniscus" in my left knee, which I THINK is the ligaments or cartilage that attaches your kneecap to the rest of you! If someone out there knows anatomy a little better, please clue me in! LOL! Anyway, I'll be having all of this repaired on 5/1/09, so please keep me in your thought/prayers, or wahtever it is that you do or believe in! I SO appreciate it, and I want to PUCLICLY APOLOGIZE for any trouble my conditions may have caused you, as I have been unable to fulfill a few of my comittments lately. 'Love you all!

Oh, I am SO excited!
For those of you who don't know me that well, I've always been a "helper." From bringing home hurt (and even ..deceased (?!) little birds as a child, to contuining my long career as a psychotherapist to emotionally disturbed children, I have always wanted to help others.

AND, even if you're meting me for the very first time today, you KNOW I LOVE SCRAPPING?!?! Right?!

So, I've found a WONDERFUL WAY to combine my 2 passions!

I signed on as an Independent Consultant with Close To My Heart, a manufacturer of wonderful scrapbooking and stamping supplies, in order to TEACH OTHERS HOW TO BECOME Scrapbookers and Stamping artists!

I will be conducting individual and group scrapbooking lessons, hosting Crops, and whatever else this little mind of mine dreams up, using my fabulous new CTMH products to do so! THE SKY'S THE LIMIT!!!

It is with great pleasure (and shock!) to tell you that I am having some of my artwork PUBLISHED, by TWO different magazines!!!
Before this, I have NEVER SUBMITTED any of my work due to lack of CONFIDENCE. But, with some encouragement, advice, and then, yes--some confidence, I finally did submit.
I will be n the AprilMay issue of Ready-Set-Create, in the Memorial Day section. As I read the Pub Call, I saw something about submitting a project that would "commemorate anyone you loved, who is no longer with us!" I immediately thought of the layout I designed about the wonderful life of my Grandmother.
The layout is titled "My Bubby."

The other publicaiton won't be out 'til July, so I'll tell youabout it as we get into SPRING!!!

Today is a FABULOUS day! Its only 7:40 am, but I can feel it already! The sunlight is bursting through my window-shades, and even though its a chilly morning (15 degrees F!) I just find it fabulous! I'm a SPRING kind of girl, for sure! I have definitely missed the sunshine the past few weeks...

TODAY, I have challenged myself to TAKE between 50-100 PHOTOS! I'm going to really concentrate on taking as many photos as I can, with hopes of getting a few really terrific images that are worthy of using with all of the wonderful new CHA release products I'm buying up!

So, I'll be back~~ I'm going to watch some "Every Day Moments," and the kids are walking to the busstop around now... Maybe I can catch a good snowball fight!!!

And that person is...ME!!!

I have been a designer for Jean since late December/early Jan. The other day, I was browsing the Pub Calls, and saw her ad for a Design Team Leader!!! I didn't know about it, so I thought, well, she must be looking OUTSIDE of the Site, and bring on somebody new.
Unbeknownst to me, Jean had been thinking of me all along, but thought I was "too busy!"
You know the old saying, "If you want to get soething done, ask a BUSY PERSON!!!"
So, when I told Jean I was interested via e-mail, I didn't hear back from her, and assumed she had picked somebody else. You can't win 'em all!
TONIGHT, I logged on to the JADS, and LO & BEHOLD~~ A NEW FORUM: CINDY, DESIGN TEAM LEADER!!!
YAY! YAY!! YAY!!!

Wednesday already! My, how time flies!
It seems like only yesterday that I had 4 weeks to make 60 custom Baby Shower invitations for a customer of mine, and I still have 26 to finish by TOMORROW!!! (Yikes!) I ran out of ribbon to make my tiny little polka-dotted bows for the top, and I PRAYED all the way to Michael's that they had re-stocked the shelf of the ribbon I'd bought all up! Well, my prayers were answered, because there they were!...10 more spools! So I grabbed up what I needed, and guess how I'LL be spending the rest of the day???

QUESTION OF THE WEEK! Do you follow the latest scrapping and stamping TRENDS?

What do you see in the stores that you consider to be "the latest trends?" Tell me about how you feel about them!

My Answer: I see alot of owls and other birds, cupcakes, and critters out there, particularly in the world of stamping! I must admit that I've bought the new Inkadinkadoo stamp sets with each of the above, but I RARELY use them!
As far as scrapping, there's a whole lot of new DISTRESSING products out there, especially from Tim Holtz.. Again, I've tried tried some of the products, but also not thrilled with those!

BLING has become more popular, as you can see with the many brands now carrying gems (crystals and rhinestones) and I DO LOVE those!!!

Generally though, I stick with the tried and true for ME: Bright colors, flowers, ribbon, brads of all shapes, sizes, and finishes (my faves are GLAZED!) AND, LAST but definitely NOT LEAST is PATTERNED PAPER!!! I LOVE it, and can't stop buying!! My favorite brands tend to remain constant: Fancy Pants, Creative Imaginations, MM Noteworthy Collection, Jenni Bowlin, Prima...and I always buy the new Basic Grey lines, whether I love them or not! Strange, but true!!! A new favorite is Best Creations, which I've only goten into recently.

LIVING YOUR DREAMS...!

I am SO excited about my life right in this moment in time! I feel at peace. Finally.

If you know me well, you know that I have struggled with many, many disturbing physical symptoms. They include fatigue, shooting pains, achy joints and muscles, numbness, and even PARALYSIS of my face and arm!
All of this was "unexplainable," according to the various doctors I have seen over the years.
They aid, "It's all psychological. Try an anti-depressant,"

Last summer, I became unable to work outside the home anymore, so I resigned form my long career as a Child Psychotherapist, and decided to PURSUE MY ART FULL TIME!!!
I was going to LIVE MY DREAM!!!!

So, I've struggled along for the past several months, was hospitalized 5 times since October (!) and still, NO EXPLANATION!!!

Today, I recieved a phone call that CHANGED MY LIFE! I had a blood test result that explained almost ALL of my symptoms!

I have Lyme Disease.

LYME??? I didn't know much about it, so I went online, of course. and read ALL I could about it. Seems like mine started a long time ago, and is now considered incurable. But, it isn't life-threatening, it DOES come and go, and, most importantly, I HAVE AN ANSWER!!!

THis has propelled me to REALLY WANT TO CREATE!!! I jsut want to be in my Art Room all day long for the rest of my years, and inspire others to live THEIR dreams!
Life is TOO SHORT!!! DO what you LOVE!!!

I am now on 2 Design Teams, and I am loving every minute!!
I think I will do everything with a greater ZEAL now! I do't have to wnder what's going on with this body of mine... I know what I have, I know who I am, and I know what I'm doing. I'm LIVING MY DREAMS!!!

HOWEVER, I DO enjoy having a clear, organized space to create!
